Cottonmill Spa
All the photos in this blog were taken on the morning of the 20th March, later that day the PM ordered spas to close due to Covid-19.
This post is sponsored by Sopwell House and Cottonmill Spa.
When Cottonmill spa reached out to us and asked if we wanted to have a complimentary membership for their exclusive members only spa we said yes instantly.
We had previously been for an overnight stay not long after the new 14 million pound renovation was open to visitors. Sopwell is only a 5 minute drive from where we live and having a membership was perfect for us. Being able to pop over on cold winter evenings and relax in the hydro pools and steam rooms was the best remedy for winter.
We also had access to the gym which we would spend an hour running and cycling in before spending some deserved recovery time in the tranquil surroundings of Cottonmill Club which is the newest part of the spa. We have previously written about how incredible the recently opened extension is. Over the first few months of the year when we were home from our travels the spa quickly became our go to place. Even on a Saturday afternoon at its busiest the spa is still relatively quiet and there is plenty of space to relax and enjoy a peaceful moment. We quickly learnt though that mornings and evenings were best for us and often we would have the entire spa to ourselves.
We would often spend a romantic evening in one of the three outdoor hot tubs outside and away from the main building gazing at the stars. We would be discussing our next travel plans and ideas that we had developed over the course of the day.
When we were given our black membership bands in its own little box with the Cottonmill keyring we were very excited. The black wrist band is basically entry to all areas and we quickly headed off to the Club changing rooms and then upstairs to the exclusive Club areas. Robes, Towels and sandals are all complementary and are set out in the lockers ready for you to get changed. We love to spend time in the outdoor hot tubs and indoor/outdoor hydrotherapy pool before moving to the hot sauna which would quickly dry us off. We then spend time relaxing on the loungers, or hot stone beds. The best part about living so close and having a membership is that we could spend an hour or two at the spa before carrying on with our day and popping in anytime we wanted. Having access to the gym and then showing afterwards before a day of work or in the evening before dinner is one of our favourite things to do. Even with Covid-19 swirling around we found that because of the exclusive access we were never worried about social distancing.
Like most things in 2020 Covid-19 spoiled the party and our membership is currently on hold. We are more than excited though at recent government announcements that spas are soon able to reopen. We want to thank all the staff at Cottonmill Spa who have been fantastic, incredibly professional and helpful every time we visited. We cannot wait to be back!
