Pizza Jockeys

Located in Newquay’s Wesley Yard, Pizza Jockeys is surrounded by independent Cornish businesses which are tucked away off the main streets, but well worth the detour! Its discreet location gives it a more relaxed feel and is similar to an arty neighbourhood in London on a smaller scale.

Pizza Jockeys is the perfect place for those pizza snobs, with a quirky and vibrant interior, full of an eclectic collection of pop culture decor and boasting some of the best sourdough pizza in Newquay. A queer, female-led business born in 2020 which has now also expanded into Falmouth. Every pizza is handmade and there is the option to pair it with a draught local beer or cocktail.

Make sure to book a table ahead of the weekend or you can order a takeaway pizza to eat on the beach, like we did!

The Clover Club

A wonderful addition to the Newquay high street, The Clover Club is a must. Located in a fantastic central location on Bank Street, The Clover Club is a great idea for brunch or dinner. Charlie and Callum have created a cosy and chic space that serves delicious tapas and has the most beautiful bar.

We’d highly recommend trying the Cornish mussels, truffle parmesan fries, and the Cornish Smoke Squad spicy chicken wings. The Clover Club is open from Tuesday to Saturday, and on Friday evenings, there is live music, so make sure to book ahead to avoid disappointment.

Zacry’s

Set overlooking Watergate Bay, this restaurant serves seasonal, fresh local fish and seafood dishes. For dinner, you’ll discover a six-course set menu whilst watching the waves crash on the horizon. We enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Zacry’s on a stormy summer evening with Cloudy Bay wine from New Zealand, a sauvignon blanc which was perfect.

The floor to ceiling windows at Zacry’s invite you eyes out to the Atlantic waves and the relentless surfers in search of the perfect wave. The beautiful interior of Zacry’s has a boho-inspired feel with floating wicker ceiling lamps matched with light wood chairs.

The Colonial

One of the best spots in Newquay for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is The Colonial, which has a stunning view of Tolcarne Beach. A short walk along the beach at low tide or down the steep steps, the Colonial restaurant serves fresh seafood, a full English breakfast and refreshing cocktails.

The eclectic interior decor of the Colonial lives up to its name, with coloured glass parrot lamps and beautiful bamboo furniture. We would highly recommend the lobster and steak, cooked to perfection. You can also stay overnight at Tolcarne Village in one of the Colonial rooms above the restaurant for sweeping ocean views and falling asleep to the sound of the waves.
